In this bdsm re-invention of the Alice stories Kim’s life takes an unexpected twist when she is taken from the massage parlour she works in to a fetish fantasy world ruled over by the Red Queen, a powerful dominatrix. There, an intense psychological drama is played out between the two women as Kim enters a journey into submission. The Red Queen assumes different characters who torment Kim in a series of trials ranging from the funny and strange to the sadistic and erotic.  Kim is lured deeper into this world by hints the Red Queen knows something about her past.  Why has she been chosen to serve this powerful female?  Why is the Red Queen so interested in her?  When Kim finally finds out the truth, it is shocking and bizarre.

The metal tips of her stiletto shoes clicked against the black and white chequer board floor tiles; each step instinctively, without thought or effort, alternating between black and white. As she made her stately progress across the tiled floor she mused on the aptness of the symbolism that reflected the extremities of the world she inhabited and held sway over: darkness and light, cruelty and kindness, pain and pleasure, humiliation and reward. She commanded over her domain like a chess master playing a twisted and beautifully imagined chess game in which she, the Red Queen with a black heart, orchestrated proceedings and her slaves were pawns. She stood before her gothic mirror and admired her image reflected within its black cast iron frame. The Queen of Hearts was ready…….

In June 2013 to launch the hard copy version of Adventures in Fetishland I did a book reading at the Smut by the Sea Erotic Authors and Readers event in Scarborough. The reading was done in costume with The Red Queen and the Duchess and me as the Fetish Hatter.

There’s a blog about the reading here and a another blog with some photographs here.  The reading was also feature in BDSM Book Reviews.

Wow, this book starts off hot and it doesn’t let up for a moment. The author takes us into real fetish territory – Kim doesn’t exactly start off innocent – she works in a massage parlour with extras, after all, but when she finds herself in a dungeon with a dominatrix who is determined to push her to the limits, she realises her journey is only just beginning. Her dark fantasy world will test her until she screams for mercy. At times she wonders if she will survive. A darkly disturbing read.

Those squeals of gurlish glee that my neighbours have been complaining about for the last week are entirely the fault of Slave Nano. As excited as I was when Sally passed this along to me for review, I could not have anticipated what a thoroughly enjoyable read this would be!  Adventures ia a book that works on more levels than any author has a right to expect. It is both a fetish fairy tale and an urban fantasy, full of elements both erotic and mythological. Dreamy and surreal, it does a spectacular job of capturing the spirit of its Wonderland inspiration, but it also weaves in a strong feminist pagan mythology that underlies its BDSM elements. I spent the first half of the story wondering how it could all be real, and the second half wishing that it were.

Nemesisland is, as the Red Queen states, “a place where she could give expression to her wildest imaginings and where slaves could lose themselves in submission and explore their innermost darkest desires.” It is a dark, fairy tale realm where both landscapes and slaves have been altered to serve a role within the story. Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the White Rabbit, the Black Cat, the Mad (Fetish) Hatter, the Purple Caterpillar, the Walrus, the Carpenter, and (of course) Alice all have their roles to play. It is really quite remarkable how well Lewis Carroll’s fantasy realm lends itself to a bondage-themed reinterpretation, but that is a testament to Slave Nano’s inspired creativity.

This is more than just an exercise in imagination, however – it is also the breathtaking tale of young woman’s dance with a destiny. Rescued from the day-to-day servitude of life in a brothel, Kim is taken to Nemesisland and put through a series of trials, consisting of both punishments and pleasures. Over the course of her journey she learns a number of truths about her self, including who she is, where she has come from, and what she is destined to become. I will not offer any spoilers as to what her destiny entails, but it is tied very closely to the mythology behind the fantasy.

Adventures in Fetishland is also a story about trust, a story about the power of true submission. While there are choices to be made, there are no games in Nemesisland, no safe-words, and no limits. Becoming a part of the story means submitting yourself completely, trusting your body and soul to the whims of Nemesis herself (the Red Queen). The bondage and domination scenes are exquisitely crafted, demonstrating Slave Nano’s flair for conveying not just the physical sensations of being restrained and punished, but also the thoughts and feelings of letting one’s self become completely immersed in submission.

This is a powerful read, and one that demands you submit yourself to the power of the tale. Intensely erotic, it challenges you to control your arousal, to read just one more chapter before submitting to your own physical needs. Intelligent and imaginative, it also challenges you to imagine how Wonderland’s fetish transformation will manifest itself next, while managing to surprise and delight at every turn. It is exceedingly rare to find a story that so expertly manages to arouse, entertain, and engage the reader, but Slave Nano has crafted that perfect reading experience.

Well, if that wasn’t inspiration enough, I just don’t know. This book grabbed my attention from the first page and had me staying up late in the night to read more. Not to mention reading while I should have been working on my own submissions for next week. Uber hot book! Whew!
Alice’s adventures in Wonderland is the premise of this story. Wild and fierce, this fetish fairy tale has a myriad of things that work for it. Nemesisland is a place where complete submission reigns and the  Red Queen makes all the rules. Fetish, fantasy, extreme eroticism and dark desires rule, making this a read you will never forget.
All of the characters you have met in Wonderland are here in Nemesisland, but with a little added something that will make you squirm in your seat. It is intensely erotic and will grab you by the hair and not let go. In particular, Slave Nano has a grasp on the physical sensations and his descriptions make the characters practically breathe. You can feel Kim’s desire for the flogger as you grip your e-reader with bated breath. I think I chewed on my iPad cover on that one.
Kim is a young woman who is rescued from being a prostitute and put into a series of trials. She learns much about who she is and who she is destined to become. It is a journey of sensual enlightenment that is not for the faint of heart. Every page holds a new exhilarating  adventure that you get to share as Nano’s descriptions bring color and sensation off the printed page. Slave Nano has crafted a story that is lush with imagery and had me reaching with trembling hand for ice water on more than one occasion. It will put you through the paces as a reader and take you on a journey of fetish and fantasy like no other you have experienced. It is intense, dark, energetic and oh so much fun. If you enjoy a good dark sexy fantasy, you must give Adventures In Fetishland a try. I’m going to go read it again.

Adventures in Festishland written by Slave Nano was a good book. It’s an adult version of Alice In Wonderland and will make you want to be there and meet Kim, the white queen. While writing this review I find myself tongue tied by what I just read. All I can say is I loved it and want to read more from Slave Nano. I also liked that he put himself in the story as the black cat.

The Adventures of Fetishland tells the story of Kim, a brothel worker. She comes to Nemisland in order to submit to the red queen. Along the way she encounters a few bizarre characters. I recommend this book to adult fans of Alice in Wonderland and to any adult that likes female dominatrix.

O M G!!  This book is kinky and hot.  Do NOT read in public… unless you are into that sort of kink because this book will make you hot and bothered.  A bondage Alice in Wonderland fetish book with mythological overtones, this story is all about the master/slave relationship both m/f and f/f with some cross dressing and bestiality within the Alice in Wonderland setting.  Definitely not for children or those who do not like the BSDM and fetish world.
At once tantalizing and uncomfortable this story certainly brings out the desire to act out some latent bondage desires, but the fantasy setting may not be everybody’s cup of tea.  I certainly enjoyed it and my husband enjoyed the effects of my enjoyment.
I give this story 4 out of 5 clouds and a sizzling 8 on the chili pepper heat rating.  Not for the faint of heart.

A couple of years ago, when I first bought my Kobo and had purchased only one book for it, I ended up stuck in an airport for about six hours. I’d finished the book I’d bought, so I started to peruse the 100 free books (copyright expired classics, for the most part) that had come bundled on the device. I came across Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and realized I hadn’t read it in years, and decided to give it a go.

It certainly didn’t fill all six of the hours (Jane Austen had the honor of using up most of them) but my jaunt through Alice’s Adventures reminded me of how – as a child – I’d read it a chapter at a time over the course of a week or two as a bedtime tale. In my head, it was in many ways a collection of short stories – each chapter was very much separate from the last, and the language was over-the-top and sort of forced and fun in a way that I enjoyed.

I had to stop and remind myself of all of that when I began reading Adventures in Fetishland. Within the first page or two, I was a little worried. The language seemed a bit overwrought:

As she made her stately progress across the tiled floor she mused on the aptness of the symbolism that reflected the extremities of the world she inhabited and held sway over: darkness and light, cruelty and kindness, pain and pleasure, humiliation and reward.

Thus we meet the Red Queen of the tale in the prologue. The prose here was a bit overwhelming and somehow discordant. I won’t lie – it had me noticing specific word choices and wondering how deliberate they were. It knocked me a bit out of the narrative. By the end of the prologue, we’ve met the Red Queen and have been let into the crux of the tale: somewhere out there (in our real world, we’re left to assume) there’s a young woman who will be the ideal slave submissive (and yet also a bit dominant, in the sense that the Red Queen could command her to dominate her other slaves) and the Red Queen is ready to go get her back.

Yes, back. This woman (I was waiting for her to be referred to as “Alice”) has already been in the Queen’s Nemesisland once before.

So let’s meet Alice. Or, rather, Kim. Kim is working at a “massage parlor” (nudge, nudge) and is dealing with a pretty nonverbal (though muscular and smooth) client.

Kim turned her naked client onto his back and knelt over him. She had to admit his erection was impressive, he certainly had no problems in that department. She leant over him so that her cleavage, squeezing out of her tight leopard-skin print bra, was hanging over his face and his gaze was drawn to her heaving breasts.

Again, that language that seems just a bit “off” was distracting me. By the end of the first chapter, there’s been an attempted anal rape, and the arrival of Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and the rescue/abduction of Kim.

I’m going to break here to put in that I have a personal frustration with attempted rape (or rape committed) in erotica. Here’s the thing: I personally just can’t find anything titillating about rape. Period. So whenever I stumble across this sort of scene, it hits that particular trigger for me, and I get frustrated. I understand the literary idea of the “rescue” and the feelings that can develop between the rescued (almost) victim and the rescuer, but I just find it a real turn-off, and not too likely. Almost being raped strikes me as not the turn-on it’s often presented to be in a narrative.

That side note aside, Slave Nano doesn’t follow through in that regard: Kim is not so grateful to her rescuers that she falls into bed with them, so that trope was avoided.

What the chapter did do, however, was remind me of what I was reading – this is an erotic piece following the style (and some structure) of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The lightbulb went on for me when Kim, after almost being raped, turns to see that her rescuers (who’ve clubbed her attempted rapist over the head with a pan) are standing behind her.

She’s naked. She’s just almost been raped, and this is her reaction:

This reminded Kim of something. She racked her brains (sic), trying to recall stories from her childhood. Then she remembered – Tweeledum and Tweedledee; they were characters from Alice Through the Looking Glass. How odd. What could they possibly be doing in a massage parlour in Manchester?

It was the “How odd?” that did it for me. This is a tale about to be told in the same – more or less – style of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alice didn’t pause much when she nearly fell to her death or awful creatures attacked her or yelled at her. She sort of took it in stride, though she often had a bit of a sharp tongue and berated them for not making sense. Kim was Alice, and in this version of events, nothing like a potential rape was going to derail her from realizing that these two rescuers were, well, kind of out of place.

I started to ease a bit more into the tale after that. The language, the odd reactions of those involved, it all suited a bit more when I filtered it through the lens of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I started looking at the narrative on its own strengths, and found it easier to get past the language to do so. The adverbs and adjectives didn’t startle as much as before, and the overall effect was a kind of gauzy, dreamy approach to a fetish-laden erotic story of Kim and the Red Queen.

Rehearsing poses

Rehearsing poses

Basically, the story follows in an Alice fashion – chapters are new scenes, for the most part, and the reader is treated to a variety of fetishes, as the title would lead you to expect. There’s definitely some furry content (the hare, the cat, quite a few of the animals are sort of manimals, though their descriptions are often not quite flushed out enough to hand you the full image, allowing you to create your own borderline between fur and flesh), there’s a lot of bondage, some mummification, and – here’s something we don’t see often enough – the women are often in the dominant role. We have some teacher-student, some nurse play, basically scene after scene through the fetish scope, with a heavy emphasis on role-play through uniform and costume choice, and bondage.

Between those chapters, however, is the part of the tale that I thought had the most cleverness. We start to unfold the mystery of who exactly the Red Queen is, along with her enemies, and there’s a historical content here that I really did find interesting. As the tale unfolds, there’s a kind of paganism and feminism that is quite engaging, and learning Kim’s role in all of this is ultimately a nice ribbon-on-top of the whole package, and was maybe I place I would have liked to have spent more time.

Adventures in Fetishland is a bit of a mixed bag. The scenes are there, and once you get your head past some of the prose style – understand, I think this is a very purposeful echoing of the style of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – I think it can be a fun read for those into the style and the slightly “wacky” feel that presents. The “B” plot of the history of the Red Queen and Kim is engaging. The scenes are erotic – though the language can sometimes disconnect the reader a bit as it seems somehow oddly put.  I liked the denouement well enough, but the inclusion of the potential rapist in the tale at not just one place but two left me a bit sour – but that’s my hang-up, and not necessarily an issue for other readers.

I’d honestly suggest you take a quick perusal of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland if you’re not familiar with it, or if it has been a while since you read it. Somehow, having recently (enough) experienced the book made my easing into the language style of Fetishland less awkward. It’s a transition that works for the tale but I think could work against readers. I leave that determination up to you.
